MySQL is a database engine that you can use with your web site. There are two separate features in the Control Panel. One allows you to create your databases and assign users while the other feature permits you to edit the database. Database driven applications can run significantly faster and store much more data than typical CGI applications. You can set up as many individual MySQL databases as you need to support your many different web site applications.
